NASA’s Ingenuity helicopter will no longer soar over the dusty landscapes of Jezero Crater on Mars. Its historic journey is over, and the team that coordinated the first alien flying vehicle is seeing its favorite off with honors.
ngenuity spent nearly 1,000 days on Mars, exceeding all expectations. During all that time, it helped the Perseverance rover explore the terrain. However, during the 72nd mission, communication with Ingenuity was lost. According to the latest photos, it was clear that the helicopter had damaged one of the propeller blades. This became fatal to the mission.
Ingenuity’s contribution to solar system exploration and future human exploration of Mars is truly invaluable. Not only the exploration, but also all the emergency landings and overcoming the difficulties of the Martian winter are impressive.
